Bishop Darren L. Gay, Sr., is a man after the heart of God who is making full proof of the ministry that God has called him into as he profoundly operates in the five-fold ministry gifts of the Spirit. He is the Pastor, Founder and Visionary of Higher Way Ministries in Petersburg, Virginia. Bishop Gay is a product of Sussex County Public School System and a graduate of Richard Bland College. He attended Ferrum College Baptist Seminary and received his Doctorate Degree of Divinity from St. Thomas Christian College in Jacksonville, Florida.

 Bishop Gay has been preaching the Word of God for over 30 years, with 25 of those years serving as the Senior Pastor of Higher Way Ministries - Petersburg Campus. Under his leadership, God has continued to bless and enlarge Higher Way's territory by adding two additional campuses, Higher Way Hampton and Higher Way Raleigh. In addition, he serves as Executive Director of the B.A.L.M. Center (Breaking Addictions Learning Mentoring), a substance abuse/learning mentoring program.

Bishop Gay comes with an apostolic anointing, released from a spiritual father with an apostolic covering. Being obedient to the voice of God, he launched the E.A.G.L.E.S. Fellowship of Pastors and Leaders (Empowering and Assisting God's Leaders For Extraordinary Servanthood.) It is a ministry designed and destined to EQUIP God's leaders to EMPOWER God's People.

He is married to the former Danielle Bell of Hagerstown, Maryland and they have four children: Darren Jr., Da'Shaun, Grace and Daniel and a beautiful granddaughter Zuri James. God has given Bishop Gay a double portion of "His anointing," and the anointing has been destroying yokes, breaking shackles, loosing bondages and setting souls free.   He is on a special mission for God and he is sincere about his work for the Lord.
